We are still busy outside soaking in every last bit of Fall. I fear saying it aloud, but I really believe we are nearing the end of our Autumn weather.
It feels as though Fall has really just started, and yet it is getting dark earlier and getting awfully chilly. All the forecasts I have heard (which I try hard NOT to hear) say we are in for a doozie of a winter. Ugh. I will try very hard to like winter this year. Very hard. I think I should start saying that to myself every night before bed.
The chickens (since I am sure you are itching to know!) seem to be adjusting to the chilly weather okay. I moved our baby 3 outside a few days ago when we had a mild spell. After a few late night checks to be sure they were warm enough I am feeling like they will also adjust alright to being outside.
And when I say late night checks I mean really late. And I mean sending my hubby out to check 🙂 I am a bit concerned for how they will fair this winter, but with lots of research and knowledgeable farmers to call upon I think they will survive the weather (and our inexperience). Oh, winter.
But it is not here yet. And I don’t need to try to like Fall – I love it! While it seems the season is flying by, I am hopefully we still have a few more weeks of Fall left before the snow flies.
I hope so – there are so many adorable Fall crafts to do! I recently began writing for CBC Parents and I wrote this post on a twiggy jack-o-lantern. It turned out so cute!
Pop on over and come back to tell me what you think. I love all the learning that was a part of this activity, and I also love what a frugal Fall decoration it is. You can read all about here on CBC Parents: Nature Halloween Craft
