Yes, I want the Grade 2 Curriculum!

What grade should I choose?

Grade One is for children who:

  • know their letters and sounds

  • are beginning to blend three letter words (such as 'cat')

  • know their numbers up to 10

  • understand what the numbers up to 10 represent

Grade Two is for children who:

  • can read three letter words (such as 'cat')

  • are beginning to recognize some sight words (such as 'the' or 'and')

  • understand concretely how to make 10 (such as '1 and 9,' '2 and 8,' etc.)

  • can count to 25 or higher

You'll notice there are no ages mentioned above. Children progress through skills sequentially and in their own time. Where one child may be ready at age 6, others will be ready when they are older. Follow your child's lead.

Is your child not quite ready for Grade One or Two? Check out Kindergarten at Home, which introduces your child to letters, numbers, and more through hands-on play and real-life experiences.
