By Grade Seven, children are ready to take their reading and writing even further! They explore a wide variety of texts, analyze an author’s message and purpose, consider different perspectives, and support their thinking with evidence from what they read. As writers, they plan, organize, revise, and refine their work while learning to communicate effectively for a variety of purposes and audiences.

One feature families especially appreciate is the curriculum’s predictable four-week rhythm. The course is divided into eight themes, with each theme spanning four weeks:

After every two themes (every eight weeks), children complete a one-week Novel Study Reflection. Throughout the workbook, periodic novel study check-ins help children stay on track with their reading, and by the end of the year, they’ll have completed four Novel Study Reflections while continuing to strengthen their reading and writing skills through a wide variety of texts and writing forms.
