I’m so excited to give you a little behind-the-scenes look at my Grade Six Math Curriculum today!
If you have been following along, you will know I’m all about quality over quantity. Even as children get older and their math work gets more complex, they don’t need to spend hours glued to a desk. Those tweens still want to be outside, enjoying nature, being curious, and full of wonder.
That’s exactly the mindset I had when creating all my Math & Literacy Curriculum. I stripped away the fluff and focused on what really matters—core skills, taught simply and effectively.
The result? Just one page a day. That’s it! One thoughtful, purposeful page to build a rock-solid foundation—leaving the rest of the day free for exploring, and plenty of joyful, meaningful moments together.
Let’s take a look at the weekly flow of Grade 6 Math!

How Wee Learn’s Grade 6 Math Curriculum
How Wee Learn’s Grade Six Math Curriculum is carefully designed to teach math in a cyclical manner. This means that once your child learns a new concept, we don’t just leave it there. We circle back to it with cumulative reviews and word problems, reinforcing the skill in different ways until they’ve mastered it. This method helps your child deepen their understanding bit by bit, making sure each concept sticks.
The workbook is divided into six sections, covering the five math strands plus a review.
Five Strands of Math
- Number Sense
- Algebra
- Data
- Spatial Sense
- Financial Literacy
Grade 6 Math Curriculum Weekly Rhythm
So, how do we cover all these essential skills with just one page a day? Let’s walk through the weekly rhythm so you can see how each concept builds on the next, and how it all fits together.
Day One and Two: Introduce a New Concept
We kick off the week by diving into a brand-new math concept, such as Factors and Multiples. On Monday, your child will be introduced to the topic through clear explanations and guided practice. Sometimes, a concept needs a bit more time to sink in, so we stretch it over two days to make sure there’s space to explore, ask questions, and build confidence.
Day Three: Practice with Word Problems
On Wednesday, we take the concept from theory to practice with word problems. This step helps kids see how math shows up in real life, and gives them a chance to flex their problem-solving muscles.
Day Four: Cumulative Review with Word Problems
By Thursday, it’s time to mix it up! We bring in a review using word problems that combine past and current skills. This gets kids thinking critically, identifying what the question is really asking, and deciding which strategy to use.
Day Five: Consolidation & Review Questions
To wrap up the week, your child gets a chance to become the teacher. They’ll create and solve their own word problems, and explain how they tackled them. This step solidifies their understanding and boosts confidence through reflection and review.
One Page a Day Math Curriculum
The key to success in Grade 6 (math or otherwise!) is structured, sequential learning. Concepts are introduced step-by-step, practiced in isolation, and then revisited in different ways. This approach gives kids the time they need to truly understand what they’re learning—while developing strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
If you’re someone who believes that less is more, and the idea of “one page a day” makes you say, “Yes! This is how it should be!”—then this curriculum was made for you.
