I really don’t think it matters who you are, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that ALL Mother’s love sweet homemade gifts for Mother’s Day. And I have an awesome Mother’s Day gift idea for you.
This one is nice and simple to make. My 3 year old daughter was able to make it independently, and my older children made more intricate versions as well. These button bracelets look so sweet!
Just before we dive into the simple How-to for these button bracelets, I wanted to share how perfectly they go with our Free Printable Mother’s Day cards as well.
Have you grabbed your copy yet? If not, you can get those right here:

Print out those sweet cards, fill in the cute poem, fill-in-the-blanks, or opt for the portrait colouring interior, and let those little ones create the sweetest Mother’s Day card yet to accompany these button bracelets.
My littlest is really into threading lately. Beads on pipecleaners, cheerios on pipecleaners, buttons on pipecleaners … I mean, if you need something threaded on a pipecleaner, she is your gal. I always start my little ones threading on pipecleaners instead of yarn or string. It makes it so much easier for that beginning hand-eye coordination as those pipecleaners really hold their shape.
Holy moly I just wrote pipecleaners a lot of times … Now go back and read that paragraph and take a drink every time … (Ha!)
Anyways, with all of this threading there was most certainly going to be a related Mother’s Day gift happening. And sure enough, I bring you BUTTON BRACELETS!
To make these bracelets you will need:
- Buttons of various sizes
- pipecleaners
That’s it! Begin by twisting a loop in one end of the pipecleaner. Next, thread a button on through one hole and then back through the second hole so the button lays flat.
You can get a bit fancy and double up your buttons! To do this, thread the first button through one hole and then the second button also through one hole. Line up your buttons and send the pipecleaner back through the second hole of each button.
You can use various sizes, various colours, anything goes!
Every year when I share Mother’s Day craft ideas I inevitably get asked if I make these with my children for myself. YES! I absolutely do. Every year. Some might think that is an odd thing to do, so let me explain why. I am the one home with my little ones, so they don’t do crafts with anyone but me. The feeling of pride my children get from making a special craft, hiding it away in their room, and gifting it to Mama on her special day is priceless.
And yes, I always act as though I forgot we made it together and I am totally surprised. Because, I mean, we all need to have a little bit of fun, don’t we?
I hope you and yours enjoy making some button bracelets together. Oh, and don’t forget to grab your Free Printable Mother’s Day cards as well!
Happy Mother’s Day!
