On Monday, I shared with you a straw blowing art project from our Ocean Family Unit Study. Today, I thought we’d keep the colorful ocean art going with some of my favorite ocean crafts and activities from around the web—15 of them, to be exact!
15 Fun and Colorful Ocean Crafts & Activities
Jellyfish in a Bottle by One Little Project – This sensory bottle is so mesmerizing, and it’s easy to make—the jellyfish is actually made from a plastic bag!
Under the Sea Silhouette Art by Taming Little Monsters – With some construction paper, pastels, and paint, you can make this silhouette art.
Pom Pom Fish by One Little Project – I had to include one more ocean craft from One Little Project because these pom pom fish are just SO CUTE! And the best part? No special tools are required—just your hands!
Paper Stingray Craft by This Crafty Family – These paper stingrays are super simple to make, perfect for your little ocean-obsessed crafter!
Ocean Coral Blow Painting by Woo Jr – Have you ever tried painting with a straw?! It is such a fun technique to create some interesting effects, like this coral!
Woven Turtles by Pink Stripey Socks – Do you remember making God’s Eye weavings when you were little? I sure do! They are a wonderful craft for fine motor skills and patterning. Well, Leslie over at Pink Stripey Socks had the brilliant idea to make one using three small popsicle sticks and turn it into an oh-so-adorable baby sea turtle!
Bouncy Ball Stamped Pufferfish Craft by Crafty Morning – I love art projects where kids get to experiment with using items that aren’t *normally* used for painting, like… a pointy bouncy ball!
Coffee Filter Watercolor Fish Craft by Our Kid Things – We’ve made coffee filter flowers before, but coffee filter fish!? How fun is that!
Baking Soda Dough Sea Art by My Pinterventures – If you’ve never tried making baking soda dough before, this is your sign! All you need is some baking soda, corn starch, and water, and you can some beautiful sea art.
Moving Fish by Krokotak – This ocean craft is wonderful for practicing fine motor and scissor skills!
Paper Plate Whale by Krokotak – One more ocean craft from Krokotak because this paper plate whale is absolutely genius! I love the spout of water coming out of the blowhole at the top.
Colorful Watercolor Seahorse Art by Hello, Wonderful – Get out the watercolors and cupcake liners, because you are going to love making these colorful seashorses! I mean… the kids are to love it… but really, you’re going to love making one just as much!
Cute Fish Clothespin Craft by Hello, Wonderful – And another fun, colorful ocean craft from Hello, Wonderful! I can see my youngest having such a fun time putting on a little play with these fish.
Light Up Reef Craft by The Craft Train – This craft is perfect to pair with a lesson on coral reefs and how we can help protect them. Plus, this craft includes lots of cutting, twisting, snipping, and stretching to give little hands lots of fine motor practice.
Ocean Wave Doodle Art Project via Pinterest – I found this fun art idea on Pinterest (if you’re the owner, please let me know!). This would be such a fun one for kids of all ages! Have fun mixing and blending shades of blue with your watercolors, then as it dries, cut out some little shapes to create your boats. And when the paint is all dry, get creative doodling with your black marker or Sharpie!
Are you excited to start learning about the ocean and making some fun, colorful crafts along the way!? I sure am. The ocean is such a fun topic to *dive* into during the summer!
