Guess what!!?? The start of spring is just a few short days away! I cannot wait for some longer days, more sunshine, birds chirping, and flowers blooming. The spring equinox is on March 20th; this is when the day will be equally as long as the night. Then each day after will be a little bit longer. Yay! I love celebrating the changing of seasons, there are so many topics to explore, questions to answer and, of course, some awesome activities and spring craft ideas.
There is so much to learn about our four seasons that I have created a fantastic resource called Seasonal Living with Littles. This beautifully designed resource walks you through an entire year, month by month, providing crafts and activities for every season. It also includes ideas for celebrating the solstices and equinoxes and provides nature table ideas to capture wonder and ignite the imaginations of little minds.
Plus, each season includes something for the adults to enjoy, too! You need to take time for yourself, and since we are naturally creative, I have come up with a craft idea for you to enjoy on your own.
Today, I would like to share with you Flower-Pressed Luminaries, a spring craft idea for the Mamas.

Flower-Pressed Luminaries Spring Craft Idea for Adults
One evening this spring season, I encourage you to get those little ones to bed, make a warm cup of tea, and have a lovely time creating. We are creative beings! When we are busy with our little ones all day, it is easy to lose sight of this.
That is why each season in Seasonal Living with Littles includes a special craft for you to enjoy all on your own. My hope is that this spring craft idea will help you add beauty to your home and reignite that love of creating in your heart. Once complete, these crafts can be displayed on your nature table, in your child’s room, or even given as gifts.
Let’s take a look at these beautiful and fun-to-make flower-pressed luminaries.
How to make Flower-Pressed Luminaries
For this handwork project, you will need the following:
- Wide-mouth mason jar (any size)
- Mod Podge or white glue
- pressed flowers
- battery operated candle or twinkle lights
- twine
This craft is super easy and very relaxing! Start by pressing some flowers or leaves in a paper towel, then tuck them between a couple of heavy books.
I popped by a local flower shop and asked if they had any leftover bits from the bouquets they were making—such a great way to snag some beautiful finds! Or, you can go outside and gather your own natural treasures.
I left mine in the books overnight, and by the next day, they were absolutely perfect and ready to begin!
Here comes the fun part! You can either plan out where you want each piece to go or just dive in and create as you go along. Use whole flowers, or pick off some petals and leaves—I loved doing a little bit of both!
Grab a paintbrush and start applying Mod Podge (or white glue) to the outside of your jar. I did two sides at a time, gently pressing the flowers on, then covered them with more Mod Podge to seal them in.
It was such a relaxing, mess-free painting experience—watching it all come together beautifully was so satisfying. I kept going until I had used up all the flowers and leaves I wanted around the jar.
I let it dry (it didn’t take long at all!), then tied some twine around the top of the jar. You could even make it so the jars hang like little lanterns! Pop in some battery-operated candles or twinkle lights, and you’ll have this gorgeous, whimsical glow. It’s the perfect touch to make everything feel magical!
Now, I would normally say these crafts would be perfect to display on your nature table settings, in your child’s room, or even given as gifts, but after seeing how beautiful they turned out, I am keeping them for myself. I can envision a lovely centrepiece for my outside table this summer!
I really hope you give this spring craft idea a try—it’s such a fun and relaxing way to embrace the season! You deserve to take some time for yourself and enjoy creative activities that bring joy and beauty into your day.
