Lions and tigers and bears… and toddlers… oh my! Let’s dive into some animal themed crafts and activities that are perfect for those toddlers.
Little ones just love playing with and learning about animals! While you go through these animal-themed crafts and activities, your little one will naturally be developing fine motor skills, language skills, cognitive skills, and more. Oh, the power of play!
You can also add in some gross motor development while playing with these activities. Gross motor skills are built when using the big muscles in their bodies. Running, jumping, crawling, and so on.
These skills are so fun to play with when you are in the middle of an animal theme. You could encourage your toddler to walk like a bear, or jump like a bunny!
Don’t you just love how all skills our little toddlers need can be developed through daily play?
This list of ideas for toddlers has been carefully created for you. It is full of tried and true crafts and activities that toddlers can actually do. Playing with and learning about animals is a great theme for two-year-olds, as it is so interesting, and there is so much learning that can naturally take place!
We can learn all about comparing different animals, develop sorting skills, and increase vocabulary as well. Not to mention, adding in an activity a day is a fabulous way to break up long days.
That is what my Playful Days Toddler Program is all about!
We build vocabulary and build a strong knowledge base by playing with seven themes—one of which is Animals! Not only will this provide your little one with a beautiful foundation for learning, but it will provide just the right amount of structure to those long days at home with wee ones and build beautiful memories as well.
The activities below are great examples of the daily activities you will find in my Playful Days Toddler Program!

Animal Themed Crafts and Activities for Toddlers
These activities are great examples of similar activities that can be found in my Playful Days Toddler Program.
Torn Paper Bear – Grab some white paper and cut it into strips. Now let your toddler get to ripping! Tearing paper is a fun activity for toddlers and also strengthens those hand muscles. Once ripped, your toddler can glue those ripped paper bits to a paper plate to make a polar bear.
Wooly Sheep Sensory Play – This is a fabulous animal craft for toddlers to enjoy! Little ones will love sticking the cotton balls on to this little sheep, and it is a fabulous sensory activity as well.
Easy Toddler Farm Puzzles by Toddler Approved – Print off some cute animals from the computer (or from my Playful Days Toddler Program), glue them to some cardboard, snip them in half, and you have toddler animal matching puzzles!
Penguin Craft by Glued to my Crafts Blog – I am a sucker for cute toddler art, but also recognize the importance of process art for little ones to engage in. That is why I love crafts like these! Toddlers can paint and paint to their hearts’ content with white paint on black construction paper—once done, they fold it in half, press, open, add googly eyes and an orange beak, and voila! A penguin!
Animal Rescue by Busy Toddler – This is a fabulous sensory activity for toddlers to play with and also practices an important skill known as crossing the midline. This skill is one that children need to practice and play with over and over again to strengthen a certain part of their brains. This skill is critical for later reading and writing. See? Play is the way!
Animal Memory Game by Taming Little Monsters – I just love this idea and it is one we use quite a lot at home. Choose 3 or 4 animals, place them on a tabletop, have your toddler cover his eyes, remove one, and have him guess which one is missing! This is a fabulous activity for building focus and concentration.
Rescue the Zoo Animals by Happy Toddler Playtime – This simple toddler activity just can’t be beaten! Pop some animals into Ziploc bags and have toddlers open the bags to rescue the animals. This fun animal activity is a great one for building hand strength and fine motor skills, and also opens the door to lots of vocabulary-building conversations!
There you have them! Some fun and easy animal themed crafts and activities, perfect for toddlers.
