It is officially spring! And we started this spring off right with some rain. I do love the spring … after the long, cold (crazy cold) winter months there is nothing better than some warmth. I don’t even mind the rain. Truly — muddy boots, muddy kids — bring it on! Anything that is not snow is very welcome as far as I am concerned. We have quite a few rainy day activities for preschoolers up our sleeves around here – but this one is one of our favorites.
This has got to be the ultimate rainy day activity for preschoolers. It takes about 10 minutes to organize, but it is absolutely worth every one of those 10 minutes. My preschooler and toddler enjoy this activity for such long lengths of time! Last time we set it up, they played in the garage for over an hour! Burned a lot of energy off too!
This rainy day activity for preschoolers was set up in the garage, but it could also be done on a covered porch, carport, anything of the sort. My daughter made this version – and when she revealed it to her little brothers I do believe she received the highest ranking of awesomeness that a sister can receive.
To set up this rainy day activity, Madeline drew chalk roads all over the garage. She added in a parking lot right in the center, where she parked lots of toy cars, trucks, and diggers (as a side note, should you read here often, you should know I refer to anything construction related as a “digger” – much to my 3 year olds dismay).
But this awesome sister did not stop there! She added a car wash, using a small plastic tub with warm soapy water, a ramp, using an old piece of plywood, and a construction site, with some blocks and ‘diggers’.
The little two fully enjoyed this activity – and their first day of spring rain for the year! It was short lived, this spring rain, as we woke up to more snow flurries as the tail end of winter just doesn’t want to leave. So we shut the garage door. Ahhh, spring!
