Christmas Paper Chain Bracelet Craft!

December 22, 2021 by Sarah 16 Comments

Day #4 of our 5 Days of Construction Paper Christmas Crafting Challenge is HERE! How are you and your little ones enjoying these crafts?

I hope they are helping you get in the Holly Jolly spirit and are brightening up some little ones days. Yesterday we wove some paper Christmas baskets, and today we are going to be making some Christmas paper chains – but with a twist!

We are going to be making Christmas paper chain jewelry for dolls, stuffed animals, or to gift to loved ones this holiday season. In fact, these little bracelets and necklaces could be wrapped in those little baskets or boxes we made yesterday — unplanned win!!

For this Christmas paper craft all you need to do is cut up lots of strips of construction paper nice and small. I like to cut paper in half or even in thirds and then cut into thin strips.

Now to secure these paper chains together I find it quickest and easiest to use tape. With my bigger children this year we are going to try to use some hot glue – mostly for fun – because they are super into hot glue.

To create a paper chain simply wrap one paper strip into a circle and secure with tape.

Next, put a paper strip through the first circle and then turn that second paper strip into a circle as well, securing with tape.

Continue on! A few pro tips: (I love that my ‘pro’ status involves paper chain making. I mean, some people are pros at cooking or personal finance … me … paper chains.)

  • The tinier the paper strips, the more dainty and small the jewelry
  • The larger the paper strips the easier they are to work with for little hands
  • Pre-cut tape placed on the edge of a table is very helpful for children

Now decorate all the little children, dolls, stuffed animals, and pets in the house with paper chain crowns and bracelets! These also make lovely little homemade gifts for neighbors, grandparents, and loved ones.

This one is lots of fun for little ones to do. I hope yours enjoy this paper Christmas craft as much as mine do!

Construction Paper Christmas Crafting SURPRISE! I have decided to add in a fun surprise bonus! I have figured out how to allow photos in the comments section below. I’m pretty sure we will continue to make paper chains over the next few days, as they’re so easy and festive! My 14 year old even offered to help little one with a pink birthday countdown chain. (She’ll be three on Jan. 5th, yay!)

Thank you, Sarah! And thanks for putting this challenge together, it’s been a lot of fun! Also, it was a good reminder for me to make sure I slow down (even if just a little) and spend a few extra moments doing something crafty with the kiddos.
