Are you getting into that holly jolly spirit? I know it is a touch early for some, but I am ready to dive into all things Christmas! So today I am bringing you a few of my favourite Christmas sensory bins.
Sensory bins are the perfect thing to have up your sleeve (not literally) for Christmas time. Giving children some time to dive into (again, not literally… although…) sensory bins will help to calm and regulate those busy, excited little souls.
If you’re new to sensory bins, or perhaps a bit nervous about how to handle potential messes, I have some great tips for you in my Sensory Bins 101 Guide! Grab your FREE guide right here:
Did you get your Sensory Bins 101 Guide? Good! Now you’re ready for some Christmas sensory bin ideas. The first five of these holiday-themed sensory bins are from yours truly, and then I added a few from around the web that I thought were very clever.
The Christmas-iest Christmas Sensory Bins
Winter Sensory Bin – Well, look at that! I have a blog post all about how to make the perfect Winter sensory bin. It is a pretty fabulous place to start, if I do say so myself. The thing I love most about this post is how you can use materials you already have on hand at home. No special prep at all.
A Christmas Sensory Bin with a Sticky Tree – I tell you, my friend, the TREE in this sensory bin makes this bin the very best of all! I have yet to meet a preschooler who was not immediately engaged with this sensory play activity. Grab anything at all to pop in the bin, but definitely make this sticky Christmas tree!
A Huge Winter Sensory Bin – If you are nearing Christmas time and are lucky enough to have a white Christmas, you are going to love this huge sensory experience for kids! I mean, pop on the snow gear and let them get right on in. This is pretty much the biggest sensory bin you could create for your little one.
One Ingredient Sledding Sensory Bin – Goodness, this one is a fun one! And don’t worry about the mess, this “one” ingredient cleans up like a dream. Little ones will love the imaginative world created with this set up as well. Perfect for endless creative play this holiday season.
Nature Sensory Bin – This sensory bin is perfect for Christmas time and ideal for helping calm and soothe tired, excited little people. The relaxing sounds of rice on the pinecones mixed with the lovely scent of cinnamon and orange make this sensory bin perfect for kids of all ages—including parents!
A Snowman Sensory Bin by Living Montessori Now – The cotton balls in this sensory bin are so perfect for relaxing holiday play. I just want to dive right into this snowman-themed activity, don’t you?
Christmas Frozen PomPoms by Happy Toddler Playtime – Now this one might seem a little chilly to some on a cool winter day, but my little boys burn hot! They are in shorts most of the winter time, so they would love to enjoy these frozen green, red, and white pompoms. Such a fun sensory experience and full of learning as well.
Gingerbread Cloud Dough by Sugar, Spice and Glitter – This gingerbread “dough” is super easy to make and smells so heavenly! Plus, it’s taste-safe so it’s perfect for toddlers to enjoy.
Easy Christmas Tree Sensory Bin by Simply Full of Delight – This one is so easy to prep and wonderful for practicing fine motor skills! Little ones can “decorate” their christmas tree while threading beads onto pipe cleaners, arranging pompoms, scraps of ribbon, bows, or any other little goodies you have lying around!
Cranberry Orange Sensory Bin by Meggie Taylor – This is such a cute little set up and can stay out to enjoy for a few days! Your little one will love scooping, stirring, and transferring—and maybe making up some yummy Christmas “soup” for you.
Jingle Bells Sensory Bin by Taming Little Monsters – Pop some yarn, pom poms and jingle bells into a bin along with some spoons and bowls and you’re set! You could also add in some safety scissors so your child can practicing snipping the yarn.
And there you have it! Some fabulous Christmas Sensory bins to enjoy with your preschoolers, toddlers, and kids of all ages this holiday season.
Some might even call them the Christmas-iest Christmas Sensory Bins of all. (Me… I called them that… remember?)
Merry Christmas even though it’s November, my sweet friend!
