As a homeschooling family, it is very important to me that our home is a peaceful place that supports my children in their growth and learning. After all, we spend a lot of time in this home of ours! One of my favorite ways to cultivate a calm space that promotes learning is through educational art.

Now, let me explain…

You may have heard me talk about ‘strewing’ before. Essentially, strewing is casually laying out items in your home for your child to discover on their own. It might be a puzzle, a book, art supplies, or some nature items. Really anything goes that might capture your child’s interest and spark their desire to engage with the items and learn more.

One way that I ‘strew’ is by swapping out artwork in our home from time to time. I will also leave items on the table for my children to find, like these letter, number, or sign language cards.

By simply swapping out an educational art print, or leaving some cards on the table, it can open the door to a whole new conversation and area of learning.

The longer we homeschool, the more I have realized how beneficial these visual prompts truly are. When you display educational artwork in your home, it helps to keep those topics at the forefront of your mind, making those conversations and learning opportunities so natural and effortless.
