Fall Button Trees

August 7, 2015 by Sarah 6 Comments

Too soon for a Fall post? Hmmm … if so, please feel free to make these summer trees (you summer-loving Mamas you). But it’s coming … that F word.

I actually like the F word, just not the W word.

Did I lose you? Welcome to John’s world my friends.

This Quiet Bin is another one from my book, A Year of Educational Quiet Bins – and one of the most favourite too. These fall button trees are awesome! Super, super simple, and the options are endless for learning-filled play.

Button Trees Quiet Box idea!

I wrote all about it over on Hands on as we Grow – please pop on over to check it out. Thank you Jaime for letting me share my book in your space!

I hope your week was great. We are recently home from a week at a cottage with my parents, siblings, and 8 children under the age of 6 (including newborn twins) and I have the most amazing news. We all survived. Every last one of us.

It is really nice to be home of course, and to see how much everything changes on the farm after being away for only a week.

The vegetable garden is slightly (more than slightly) out of control, we have lots of pumpkins, watermelons are starting, snap pea trellis fort is growing, the first red tomato has arrived, baby chickens are humongous, and new baby chickens will hatch in about a week! And all of this without any interference from me at all … kind of makes me wonder what the heck it is I do around here …

Hope you have a lovely weekend friends!

I love this idea, but can’t figure out how you have the trees standing in the box?

I just actually leaned it up against the box for the picture. My little guys like to hold the tree in their hands and then put the buttons on, but if you wanted it attached to the bin you could use packing tape perhaps?

Was it hard to find buttons that will fit on pipe cleaners?

Hi Renee – great question. No, every button I had fit on the pipe cleaners in fact! Pipe cleaners are deceptively skinny. Thank you for writing me!
