With more time being spent outside, we are seeing more and more butterflies! These magical little creatures are so mesmerizing and intriguing, I thought we should create some free printable butterfly worksheets to share with you.
A few years we hatched monarch caterpillars, which is such a wonderful learning experience. It is a very easy thing to do, in fact, and something I highly recommend. These worksheets would go so well with a science activity like that.
These printable butterfly worksheets are aimed at kids of all ages. There are some pages that are ideal for preschoolers and kindergarteners, and others that are fun for older kids to do. I wanted to create a printable butterfly package that was great fun for the whole family to enjoy this summers.

What is inside the Printable Butterfly Worksheets:
Butterfly Coloring Pages
(This picture is just for you to see what is included in the bundle, the printable is all put together as one big FREE download at the bottom of this post)
There are 3 different butterfly coloring pages available in this free PDF printable bundle. The coloring pages are targeted at different age groups. There is one very simple butterfly, with large wings and few details, perfect for preschoolers and kindergarteners to color. There is a butterfly with some more details, ideal for those slightly older children. And there is one beautifully intricate butterfly coloring page for the oldest children to enjoy.
A Printable Butterfly Life Cycle
The butterfly life cycle is one of the most magical things on this Earth. This worksheet on the butterfly life cycle is nice and simple for children to complete. They can cut out the terms of the life cycle and paste them where they belong on the circular life cycle wheel. This is a wonderful activity to go along with hatching butterflies at home!
Butterfly Anatomy Worksheets
The two butterfly anatomy worksheets are ideal for little ones to learn about all of the body parts of a butterfly. Young children can simply match the words to the correct spaces, and older children can try to label this butterfly anatomy worksheet on their own!
Color By Number Butterfly Pages
Who doesn’t love a good color by number? These butterfly themed color by numbers are again great for all ages. One is nice and simple for young children to complete, and a second is more detailed and complex, making it ideal for older children. Color the beautiful wings and antennae, and see if your little one can tell you the other body parts as well.
Symmetrical Butterfly Drawing Worksheets
These final butterfly worksheets are my favourite. Children see only half of the butterfly and use the graph paper to try to draw the second symmetrical half of the butterfly. This worksheet is beautiful and fun for children to color and complete, and also completely full of math and learning. You gotta love that!
