Tree Trunk Stoves

August 15, 2016 by Sarah Leave a Comment

If you have been around here for awhile you may recall our brush with Mother Nature last year. A great big brush. Actually more of a crack.

Lighting struck one of our great big trees during a thunderstorm last summer. No one was hurt, and no property damage was done, and all-in-all it was quite awesome. This world sure is an amazing place.

But of course the tree ended up coming down (for safety reasons it came down quite quickly) but the stump is still there. There was a lot of talk of removing the stump, but I wanted to hang on to it. I just knew there would be something that I would want to use it for (for many reasons, this idea did not come nearly as quickly)

Just the other weekend we were at a new to us park and guess what we discovered? These incredible tree trunk stoves.

Use a stump to make a tree trunk stove for a mud kitchen! Great for imaginative preschool outdoor play.

Made from old tree trunks and slices of tree branches, these stoves couldn’t be easier to make. And popping them right in the middle of a yard would allow for oodles of spur of the moment imaginative play opportunities. Or mud kitchens!

Why yes, I do believe this tree trunk stove idea is perfect for our old tree trunk.

Now … how quickly will it in fact take shape? Hmmm … I’m banking on next weekend or next summer. Seems to be the way we are rolling right now. Either immediately, or excessively lengthy.

I’ll be tacking it onto the summer list along with the sandbox, fencing, and (oh yes) barn … and suddenly … next summer it is!

But hey, there’s no one judging in this space. I hope you had a great weekend friends. Happy Monday! Thank you very much for reading.
