Learning at home isn’t supposed to be complicated. It can be so natural, easy, and fun! I wanted to share with you a few simple and easy ways to weave some learning into your every day at home with your toddlers and preschoolers.
I call these, “3 Ways to Play and Learn” ideas. Because they are just that! We take ONE simple, everyday household material … such as socks … and I will show you 3 different ways you can get your little one playing and learning a ton with this one item.
I love these easy little ways to add some easy activities to our days SO MUCH that I included them in my brand new resource, Play into Kindergarten Readiness! If you find these ideas work well for you and yours, please check out Play into Kindergarten Readiness for your 2-3 year old. ONE simple 20 minute activity per day is all it takes to set a rock solid foundation so your child can soar.
This was actually a challenge that was created for my email subscribers that we completed over 5 days. But you are welcome to use these activities on your own in any way you wish!
Here are the 5 different items, with 3 ways to play and learn with each one:
Day #1: COTTON BALLS!
For this 3 Ways to Play challenge we are using cotton balls! You and your preschooler will be tracing letters (or creating them!), measuring with cotton balls, and playing an awesome race game as well. See it here: 3 Ways to Learn with Cotton Balls!
Day #2: SOCKS!
We always seem to have an excess of socks around here – and today it worked out great because they made for awesome play and learning! With our challenge today you will be sorting and matching socks, playing a fun sock game, and building vocabulary by enjoying, “what’s in the sock”! Please check it out right here: Play and Learn with Socks.
Day #3: EGG CARTONS!
Get ready for some egg-citing and easy learning today as we play and learn with egg cartons! Preschoolers will be practicing name letters, counting, and making some math art as well! Check it out right here: Play and Learn with egg cartons
Day #4: STICKY NOTES!
Sticky notes are immediately fun for preschoolers to play with. Grab their attention with 3 fun sticky note games! Children will be going on an alphabet scavenger hunt, learning numbers on the stairs, and practicing colours as well. Please check it out right here: Play and Learn with Sticky Notes
Day #5: YARN!
On our final day of our 3 ways to play and learn challenge we are playing and learning with yarn! Your little one will be learning to weave on a chair, learning to measure and build to scale in a really neat and easy way, and forming some letters as well! Check it out right here: 3 Ways to Play and Learn with Yarn
I am so excited to share with you just how simple teaching your child at home can be. I hope you absolutely loved this challenge – and if you did, you are going to absolutely LOVE Play into Kindergarten Readiness for your 2-3 year old. This program covers all core skills through play with only ONE activity a day!
