There is nothing quite like Autumn crafts. After the hustle and bustle of summertime fun outside, turning inside a little bit more as the weather cools is very welcomed by this Mama.
And turning inside goes hand in hand with crafting around these parts.
Who am I kidding? A lot of things go hand in hand with crafting around these parts. Pretty much anything, really. I really love crafting with my kids.
We were outside the other day teaching our little Delilah to fly. Our sweet little duckling is all grown up! The boys have been busy getting her settled as an ‘outdoor duck’ and decided she should likely be able to fly. I really thought it was too soon myself, but thought they would have fun trying all the same.
Well wouldn’t you know, as those boys of mine ran down the hill flapping their arms, that sweet little duck took off right after them!
Sweet story, right? But not super relevant…
EXCEPT!
When those boys of mine were busy flying, I was busy cleaning up some branches on that very hill so those little peanuts of mine didn’t trip. And once a big pile of branches has been collected, crafting is sure to follow.
We made cherry blossom trees a few Springs ago and I remember just loving them. I thought we could use the same process but use orange, red, and yellow tissue paper for Autumn leaves.
The craft was simple, just as crafting with kids should be. I laid out a few branches on the table, cut up some squares of red, orange, and yellow tissue paper, and grabbed a bottle of white glue and a paint brush.
I thinned the glue down just a touch with water and popped it into a shallow dish.
My little ones painted a twig from their branch and then wrapped a square of the tissue paper around.
Again and again and again.
And then Ben went to play Lego, but Sam continued again and again and again.
Once the branches were covered in the tissue paper we popped them in a Mason Jar and they look lovely! Such a nice Fall decoration.
I hope you are in the Autumn crafting spirit friends, as I have a bunch of ideas heading your way.
Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a wonderful start. Thank you so much for being here.
