A Different Way of Doing Things…

July 27, 2015 by Sarah Leave a Comment

You may have noticed something a little different around here over the past few months. No more distracting, terrible advertising. It had been something I had wanted to be rid of for quite some time, but was not exactly sure how to accomplish it. I finally deleted them the day a video liposuction ad showed up on my site. I was done.

So I did some thinking and searching and wondering about the direction I wanted to take this space. I spend a lot of time here, time that I would otherwise be needing to work. Knowing I love this, and it was possible for me to provide the income my family needs by doing this, I realized the best fit for me.

I would find private advertisers. And I have. Amazing ones. Companies that are honest, good, and family run. Small companies who are working very hard to do what they believe in and make a difference in this world. Companies that I could proudly display in this space, support whole heartedly, and who add to this space, not distract from it.

How Wee Learn sponsors

So I am very proud to introduce you to my sponsors. I hope you take the time to look at their websites and see all that they have to offer. You can feel good knowing you are supporting family businesses, good businesses, and working with honest, caring business people. They also believe in a different way of doing things …

Aurora Shoe Company

Advertisement auroraThe Aurora Shoe Company is like no other shoe company I know. They call themselves artisans, and for good reason. Each pair of shoes is made from local leather and is created by hand, one step at a time. Gorgeous shoes, competitive prices, and a company you can believe in. Here is my most favourite pair.

Oak Meadow

oak meadow june adIf you are a home schooling family, Oak Meadow is the place you need to be. They offer full curriculum’s for preschoolers through high schoolers as well as enrollment in their distance learning school, phone help for parents, and support. They have a very active online community full of parents to support and guide through the years. Even if you are not homeschoolers, the book The Heart of Learning has changed the way my days unfold with my boys. It is infact one of the books my own book spring boards from.

Pipsticks

pipsticksDo you remember getting mail when you were little? A post card, a letter, or the old-school chain mail? Chain mail was my favourite. I remember once getting a sticker version of chain mail, where I was to send stickers to a few people and in exchange I would get a bunch of stickers mailed to me from different people. That was one of the happiest two weeks of my childhood. Stickers in the mail everyday. Pipsticks reminds me of this idea. Packages of stickers shipped directly to your child each month. How sweet is that? Plus they have lots of crafts and ideas for what to do with those stickers on their website too. I love this idea for homemade Valentines.

Golden Cockerel

golden cockerel may adWalton has created such a unique business. While he creates many things, my favourite by far are the nesting dolls. Gorgeous, hand crafted, hand painted, and built to last a lifetime (or more). These are the perfect gift for a child. He even offers custom nesting dolls – so you can get a set that matches your family! My favourite are these rainbow nesting dolls.

Conscious Clothing

conscious may adEvery time I have an email conversation with Rose I am smiling. She is just one of those people. Her clothing is amazing too. Organic, natural, locally sourced, all those important good things. Before conscious clothing I never really thought much about what I wore. I was careful about food I ate and products I used on my body, but I never really considered the clothing I wore on my skin. Good for the environment and good for you. This is my favourite dress that I own, an organic linen backyard dress.

Natural Family Botanicals

nfbotanicalsI made my own soap for the first time last winter. And I really love it. Though I think I will make it an annual event. For the times in between, and for all my other soap and lotion needs I will be using Natural Family Botanicals. Handmade by Kelly, organic, and environmentally friendly. Definitely what I want for my family. You might want to check out her sun lotion, perfect for this time of year.

Thank you for visiting here and taking the time to read about my sponsors. I know you will love them as much as I do! These companies are great for keeping in mind for birthdays and holidays.

Hope you are having a wonderful beginning to your week friends!
