I do love this little space already – and cannot wait to create a lovely, quiet space just for my little ones.  Here are a few pictures – and I would love any ideas you may have!

Our old creaky stairs:

So – what do you think?  Do you have any ideas?  I would love to hear from you!  Leave a comment here or pop on over to Facebook (www.facebook.com/HowWeeLearn).  Thank you!

I would paint it and maybe put a few shelves up or a hanging fabric “tent”, but I wouldn’t do anything too permanent. This way it can be an ever-changing special place for whatever your kids are interested in at the moment. It could be a bear den, an ice shanty or igloo, a doll hospital, a tropical island…(insert endless possibilities here). And then it will always be a special place because it will never get boring. 🙂

Can’t wait to see what you do with it, Sarah! A cozy reading nook would be lovely.
My son’s closet at our new (old) house is similar to this. Not like a modern closet but more like a tiny room that is begging to be transformed into a special place to play. 🙂

I love that space for a reading nook. I imagine it with sunny yellow paint with shelves of books, on top of the shelves is a 3D letter READ………with soft pillow cushions on the floors to make it comfy for the kids to read their books.

Secret passageways are the best, especially when you are young! The room it leads to seems a bit on the small side, but that doesn’t make it any less fun. What sort of things are you planning for this space?

It is a really neat room Phillius – and has been used for toy cars for quite some time. I would love to turn it into a cozy reading nook – but my littles are just too little for that just yet. In another year or two though. I have always loved the idea of a secret passageway, so happy my kids can play in one! And their friends think it is just the coolest too.
