22 AMAZING Egg Carton Crafts

July 5, 2022 by Sarah 2 Comments

I mentioned last week that we have an excess of egg cartons and gave you the heads up to be expecting a lot of egg carton crafts.  Well, I hope you took me seriously – and if not, heads up!  I started looking for some inspiration – and boy did I find some!!  Here are 22 Egg Carton Crafts for kids!

Some of these egg cartons crafts are perfect for little ones to make all on their own. Others require a bit more adult assistance. The ones that DO require adult assistance will be ideal for pretend play after though! Take your pick!

Just before we dive into these Egg Carton Crafts, grab this awesome, FREE egg carton scavenger hunt printable! It is so much fun and FULL of learning too:

Helicopter – This one is our creation, and what started the whole egg carton craft kick!  We absolutely love it – and it really flies!

Egg Carton Turtle Craft by Sorting Sprinkles – These little turtles are made from individual egg carton cups. Making those tiny legs builds fine motor skills, and think of the endless preschool imaginative play afterwards!

It's beginning to look a lot like... Christmas School! Learn Together as a Family. Visit the How Wee Learn Shop.

Egg Carton People by MAKE – While little ones would need some help creating these, they would make wonderful props for storytelling and play!

Egg Carton Noses by The Craft Train – These are cute little kitten noses, but you could easily use an egg carton for any animal.  This makes for a very frugal Halloween outfit – or in our house, an any day outfit.

Counting Spider Legs – This is another of ours, and adds in some one-to-one correspondence and fine motor skills too. Preschoolers love sticking those pipecleaners into the holes of the egg carton.

Egg Carton Fish by Crafty Crafted – What a wonderful extension this would make to the book “Rainbow Fish”! While little ones might need some help constructing these, the painting could be done all on their own.

Little Train by The Craft Train – This would make such a cute centerpiece at a birthday party!  You could fill each little cup with treats. Or this would be ideal for pretend play, as preschoolers pop a little friend in each egg carton cup.

Egg Carton Frog by Stilul meu de viata – Ummm … cute.  Enough said?

The Letter Monster – This craft of ours is also a very fun (and very educational) game! This little guy only likes to eat things that start with certain sounds … It makes learning the ABCs so much fun!

Pin it for a rainy day!

Egg Carton Goggles by Education.com – I know my little ones would love making AND wearing these.  I would have to plan to create them on a week where we have nothing fancy planned, as I am sure these goggles will not be coming off my boys.

Egg Carton Critters – Spoonful (link no longer available) – Let the little ones get creative! This post is not longer available on Spoonfuls, but I wanted to leave it in this round-up of ideas because I think it is fairly self-explanatory. So many little ones would love working away on this craft day after day.

Egg Carton Jelly Fish by All Free Kids Crafts – I love how this one really helps little one develop fine motor skills. Threading those beads is the best way to strengthen little hands for future writing.

Fairy Crowns by Mom to 2 Posh Lil Divas – Wouldn’t this make a great craft for a birthday party?! Turn those egg carton cups into flowers and thread them to make a crown. Brilliant!

Egg Carton Bee by Max n’ Mum Kids Activities (link no longer available) – This post is also no longer available, but a fun little activity for summer!! I can picture these hung outside in a garden!

An Egg Carton Snake Puppet by Kidspot – I love this clever idea!  And you could add in some patterning as well.

Egg Carton Christmas Tree by Mermaid Creations – Well, it may be May, but I have our first Christmas craft lined up!

Egg Carton Snowman Birdfeeder – We made these adorable snowmen birdfeeders out of egg cartons last winter. We added some peanut butter and birdseed on the inside and hung them up in a tree to help our feathery friends over winter.

Egg Carton Toadstools by Krokotak – These would be so fun to make with a Girl Guide or Scout group. They would also be perfect for a fairy garden … or a bedroom table … or pretty much anywhere you wanted to add a little whimsy!

Egg Carton Lions by One Crayola Short – In like a lion out like a lamb! These are adorable – and would be a wonderful extension to so many things!

5 Little Speckled Frogs by Rainy Day Mum – Rather ironic, this just so happens to be one of our current most favourite songs, and one of our current most favourite blogs!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by Sugar Ants – Are these guys making a comeback? They were big when I was little – are they big again? How cool would that be! Either way, love these egg carton versions.
