Learning about calendars—the days of the weeks, months of the year, seasons, and holidays—can be tricky for little ones, but it can also be so much fun! It is the perfect opportunity for nature walks while learning about the seasons, hands-on crafts to learn the days of the week, and, of course, diving into some beautiful children’s books.
In fact, one of the sessions in my preschool curriculum, Play into Kindergarten Readiness, is dedicated to calendars! The books below are the recommended books for that session.
If you haven’t heard of Play into Kindergarten Readiness before, let me give you the briefest of rundowns. The curriculum includes 28 weeks of daily activities to enjoy with your little one. You cover all fundamental preschool skills—literacy, numeracy, fine and gross motor skills, and social and emotional wellness—in 20 minutes of play a day! You can take a peek right here: Play into Kindergarten Readiness
Speaking of numeracy skills in preschoolers, do you have my FREE Number Cards Printable yet? It includes cards for the numbers 0 to 10 with a little number formation rhyme for each, plus five ways that you can play with the cards AND a sample week from Play into Kindergarten Readiness! Now back to those books! Here are the six books I recommend for the Calendars theme in Play into Kindergarten Readiness.
I strongly suggest you get these books from the library if you are able to. I have also included my Amazon affiliate links below, in case you would like to add them to your personal library.
