Do you have a little collector or two at home? I sure do.
A lot of our homeschool learning activities don’t happen with pencil and paper, but instead with art and projects and paintings and creating lots of lovely and wonderful ‘things’!
These two points, of course, mean that my little collectors will not be parting with these fabulous ‘things’ any time too soon – so the solution? These great Treasure Boxes!
I read the instructions for how to make this Treasure Box over on Create in the Chaos the night before making these boxes, and then got all the supplies ready.
The next morning, we got started. I started things off and then would ask for the boys suggestions and input. How could we figure out how long to make the sides of the lid? What about the back? How on earth can we make that curve top to the lid?!
They did a little experimenting and problem solving, and the curved lid was solved with a few suggestions and tips as we went.
It was a fabulous learning experience. And they spent well over an hour creating their boxes.
Finally it was time to decorate – which I thought would be the best part of all – but I was met with a, “maybe tomorrow. We have to fill them first!” and they were off.
I was picturing gold paint, medallions, fancy buttons – oh they were going to be beautiful! Oh well, maybe tomorrow ….
Those boxes are almost full of various treasures and keepsakes. I sure am glad they are simple to make, I see many more Treasure Boxes in our future!
I hope you are having a fabulous week friends, thank you so very much for reading.
