My creative Madeline convinced me I could use some seasonal nails. I was thinking, perhaps I would go wild with red … she had other plans. This Santa nail design she came up with is equal parts hilarious and adorable!
Perhaps even better – this nail design is super simple! And makes for fantastic little finger puppets too (who knew!) This would be such a fun activity for big kids to be in charge of at the holiday Christmas party.
Here is how Madeline made her Santa nail design:
First she painted a base coat. One hand pink (for Santa’s face) and the other hand red (for Santa’s suit).
Once the base coats were dried she got to the actual nail design. Her tool of choice? A dull pencil.
For the Santa suit nail design:
Madeline used the dull pencil to draw a black line across the middle of the nail.
Then she added a yellow square for the belt latch.
That’s it!
For the Santa face nail design:
First Madeline added a little red triangle at the base of the nail (for Santa’s hat)
Next, she dotted little white dots across the bottom of the hat, using the dull pencil tip dipped in white nail polish.
Then she continued to dot the white nail polish down both sides of the nail and across the nil tip to form the beard.
She finished by adding two black dots for eyes.
And it was as simple as that! But of course WE are not done with the Christmas nail designing in our house. We have talk of snowflakes, snowmen, reindeer, Christmas lights, elves … oh yes, our nail designs are just beginning!
You may recall, should you have been with us over Halloween, we had some spooky nail art as well. Truthfully, I think I have just as much fun with this as she does!

Lovely nails! Oh I wish I could do that with my nails, but I can’t because…I’m a nail biter!
Thanks Eva! Maybe to your toes?
