Simple Halloween Crafts for Kids: Facial Tissue Ghosts

October 20, 2013 by Sarah 4 Comments

Simple Halloween Crafts for kids

I love simple crafts.  Crafts should be fun and easy – enjoyable for everyone!  I especially love easy holiday crafts – so I started thinking of simple Halloween Crafts for Kids.

When I was teaching Kindergarten we did quite a few simple Halloween Crafts – and the favourite by far were these Facial Tissue Ghosts – and talk about simple!  All you need is Kleenex, really, and something to tie around the neck (we used pipe cleaner, but twist ties or string would work well too).

Sammy was able to make these simple Facial Tissue Ghosts all on his own!  Completely!  After we did the first few together his confidence soared and he was making them for friends, family … he was a little ghost making machine!

To make these ghosts we simply wadded up one Facial Tissue (for the ghosts head),

Laid a second facial tissue over top of the wadded one  and wrapped it around the ‘head’

Secured the ‘neck’ with a pipe cleaner (we used pipe cleaner because there is no tying involved, making it much easier for Sammy to do on his own)

Then we dotted on two eyes.  I (very questionably) used a permanent marker —- I brought it outside without much thought until I saw Sammy using it.  I would highly recommend washable … though we had no incident!

Adding Detail

That was it!  We decorated our trees and bushes with these cute ghosts (not too sure they will hold up in rain, but they are easy enough to make again!).  We also have them hanging in most rooms, over doorways …. Sammy went a little ghost-happy.

So if you are searching for simple Halloween crafts for kids – I would highly recommend these Facial Tissue Ghosts.  They were fun for both Sammy (3) and Madeline (11) to make! If you are looking for more – here is another cute and simple Halloween Ghost craft from Happy Hooligans

The little guys are perfect to accent any Halloween decorative scene. What a wonderfully cute idea 🙂 Thank you for sharing and for linking up this week to the Thoughtful Spot Weekly Blog Hop.

This is wonderful. I did something similar, but I made the ghosts with grocery bags. We read 10 little ghosts, then went on a nature walk to find and count all 10 hidden ghosts. Lots of fun!
