Can you believe it’s almost October? Around here, that means one thing — it’s officially Halloween craft season! 🎃👻
We’ve turned our homeschool into Halloween School for the whole month, and the kids are totally here for it. It’s the perfect way to soak up all that spooky-season excitement and sneak in some fun learning at the same time.
Today, I just had to share one of our favorite hands-on activities: a spider web weaving craft that’s equal parts creative and educational. You’ll find it inside the Halloween Family Unit Study, which you can grab on its own — or bundled with four other festive units in the Celebrations Bundle (and yep, it’s 25% off!).
Let’s dive into the creepy-crawly fun!

FREE Halloween Printable
Just before we get into the spider web weaving, I think you’ll also have fun with this printable balancing bat! My kids LOVED making this bat and have had so much fun moving him around the house, seeing all of the places they can make him balance. Spider Web Weaving Halloween Craft
Materials
To create this not-so-spooky spider web, you will need:
- three sticks (you could also use popsicle sticks)
- yarn (white, orange, or purple looks wonderful!)
- scissors
Instructions for Making Your Spider Web Weaving
1. Head outside and gather three sticks that are fairly straight, or grab three popsicle sticks. Secure all three sticks together in the middle so they are evenly spaced. You can secure them by wrapping yarn around and tying them together or with some hot glue.
2. Next, knot the yarn around one stick and wrap it over and around the first stick and then around the next stick, again and again, wrapping the yarn around each stick as you go. Each time you make it all the way around, space your next circle a little apart so it looks like a spider web.
3. When you reach the end, tie your yarn around the stick and knot it. Voila! You made a spider web weaving!
Spider Web Weaving Extension Activities
Make a spider for your web: When you’re done creating your spider web, you could add some spiders cut out of black construction paper or twisted from black pipecleaners.
Make another spider web: Try making another spider web, but this time, wrap your yarn in the opposite direction! You can also try using different colors, or wrapping your yarn circles closer together or further apart to see how it changes the look of the spider web.
I hope you enjoyed creating your spider webs! If you did, you’re going to LOVE Halloween School!
Imagine waking up each day this month and jumping right into the spirit of Halloween, making special memories, and having so much fun with your children, while still learning all day long. That is Halloween School.
