Making bracelets is really a staple in any childhood, isn’t it? I know I spent hours and hours creating DIY bracelets of every kind when I was a kid. My friends and I even set up a bracelet stand one summer, selling our creations to the neighbourhood!
I wanted to find some simple bracelets my kids could make to get them started with this fun crafting adventure of bracelet making. I found ten that are nice and simple and great for kids as young as about six years old.
Making bracelets is fabulous for strengthening fine motor skills as well as for practising many mathematical concepts.
I hope they are just right for you and yours!
DIY Bead Loom Bracelets: These simple bracelets are ideal for kids of all ages because they are so easy to adapt. For little ones, you can use big pony beads and for older children you can use tiny seed beads.
Nut and Bolt Bracelets: This bracelet idea came to me after my son started telling me how crafts were for girls. At the ripe old age of 7 he began to see all of those purple and pink craft kits covered with little girls and started to question if it was indeed alright for him to like them as a little boy. Goodness knows crafting is for all!!
Paracord Bracelets by Frugal Fun for Boys and Girls: These bracelets require paracord or a rope, but I have found this at the Dollarstore. These bracelets are great for those little adventures who enjoy camping since they are easily unwound. You have rope whenever needed!
Folded Paper Bracelets by Picklebums: I have a little one who is very into origmai. I bet these folded paper bracelets will be a big hit with him. It is amazing what can be created from a single sheet of paper! This process seems a little bit complicated for younger children. I feel my 8 year old would be just old enough to tackle making this bracelet.
Straw Woven Bracelets by There’s Just One Mommy: Now this bracelet is ideal for younger children to make. It is FULL of learning and math too since children are learning all about patterning.
Yarn Bracelets from a Cardboard Disc by A Girl and A Glue Gun: This bracelet is such a neat and simple idea. I love that it uses only a piece of cardboard and yarn – makes it perfect for a craft on the go.
Popsicle Stick Bracelets by MollyMoo Crafts: Who knew you could so easily bend popsicle sticks?! These bracelets are not only adorable but they make for great homemade gifts as well.
Drinking Straw Bracelets by Make, Film, Play. I have seen many different DIY bracelets for kids to make that use straws, but I think these are the neatest. Such a unique idea!
Chinese Staircase Bracelets by Design Dazzle. I used to love making embroidery floss bracelets as a kid! This is by far the easiest design for children to start with. It uses only one (very simple) knot and is easy enough for little ones as young as 6.
Button Bracelets by Happy Hour Project. These bracelets are also nice and simple to make and really only use braiding. Braiding can be a little tricky for children to master, but once they do they will be whipping off these bracelets faster than you can imagine!
There you have them! Ten fun and easy bracelets for kids to make. I just love finding simple crafting projects to let my little guys dive right into. If the craft project is the right one, it will keep them happily creating for days.
Thank you so much for reading friends. I hope you are having a wonderful day.

We used to make the folded paper bracelets out of colored gum wrappers. That was when EACH stick had its own wrapper.
