Chalk Ghosts

October 15, 2015 by Sarah Leave a Comment

I bought these neat Halloween cookie cutters last year when they were on sale after Halloween for maybe a dollar. And the most incredible thing happened …

I remembered I bought them!

Well, I actually just stumbled upon them when cleaning out the junk drawer (which is actually another incredible thing – me cleaning out the junk drawer).

I had thought we would use them with playdough. There are six different Halloweenish shapes – pumpkins, ghosts, cats, things like that.

But also in the junk drawer was some chalk. Then I thought of this idea — chaaaaalky ghoooooosts (please read it in a spooky voice)

Adorable chalk ghosts Halloween craft!

We took a piece of construction paper – black would have been better, but my boys wouldn’t have it. So we used green for Sam and blue for Ben. Very Halloween-like.

Then they held down the cookie cutter and coloured the inside of the cookie cutter with chalk. Sam amused me and did his ghost white. Ben used every colour in the package and did not choose to stay inside the cookie cutter. To each their own. He still had a great time.

Once Sam’s ghost was completely coloured in he lifted off the cookie cutter and rubbed the chalk a little with his hand. It made a spoooky ghost-like texture.

The cookie cutter was a bit hard for him to hold in place while he coloured at first, but he got the hang of it after a few ghosts. Plus it didn’t really matter if it moved a little because of the blurring.

Not a bad activity for a junk drawer find!

Thank you for reading friends, hope to see you tomorrow!
