We are right in the thick of our Dinosaur Unit Study, and my kids are LOVING IT! This printable dinosaur skeleton activity is our next hands-on activity, and I just know my crafty kids are going to really dig it (ha!).
We are doing our unit studies a little bit differently this year. Papa is coming over one afternoon a week to dive into our unit studies with us! It is such a fun addition to our week and a wonderful way for my children to grow a special relationship with their Papa.
Papa is in charge of sharing all of the information found in our unit study, getting the children wondering and chatting and discussing the amazingness of it all, doing the math and literacy enrichment, and sharing the awesome YouTube video. My job is to do the hands-on activity.
As you might know, we organize each and every unit study the same way. One big topic—in this case, Dinosaurs—is broken down into ten small, bite-size pieces.
The bite-sized piece we are working on this week is the Jurassic Period. Specifically, we are learning about some of the many dinosaurs that were alive during that time period.
The hands-on activity to go along with the Jurassic Period is a cool printable dinosaur skeleton activity! Print off the printable dinosaur skeletons of some of the dinosaurs from the Jurassic Period, add pasta, sprinkle a few coffee grinds, and you have a really, really cool dinosaur craft!

Use some white glue to stick down various pasta noodles – spaghetti, rigatoni, macaroni, whatever is in the cupboard! Or, you can do a little bit of research and try to find pasta noodles that look like the various dinosaur bones found in the actual dinosaur.
As you chat with your little ones about dinosaurs, I encourage you to focus on the process and the discussion. Remember, what we currently know about dinosaurs is only our best-educated guess. We are constantly finding new information and adding to our knowledge base!
The point of the dinosaur unit study, like all of our unit studies, is to encourage research, curiosity, and wonder. Of course, it also covers all of our bases in one big swoop! Geography, history, math, language arts, art, science, and more are all taught throughout this Dinosaur Unit Study.
