Well, I am not at all one to use four-letter words – and to use one on my website is outrageous – and yet here we go… Due to the… SNOW yesterday (mid-April, oh my), we had an impromptu crafting day.
Our days lately have been full of outdoor adventures, getting our garden ready, and enjoying some long nature walks. But, with the snowstorm curve ball thrown our way, we (and by we, I mean almost entirely Mama) opted for some crafting.
Just before we get into the ideas, you’ll want to grab this FREE Easter Scavenger Hunt Printable! All you have to do is print, cut, and hide the clues. Easy peasy!
With a little one who had been up most of the night due to a tummy bug …. and certainly partly because of the spring snowstorm … I was in the mood for keeping things light and simple. We started by whipping up a batch of our ultimate playdough (no cook and SO good!).
The playdough itself was a hit for quite some time, and when it started to lose its appeal, I cut out some Easter Egg shapes from paper. The kids happily “decorated Easter eggs” for a long while!
Activities like this are great for my almost 4-year-old. Rolling the playdough with his fingers to make little balls and ropes is a wonderful strengthening activity for his little fingers – and will actually help his pencil grip down the road.
Never fear, if you should be feeling sorry for my little ones not being able to play in the snow. We did go outside. But just long enough to remind us all why we were so happy spring had finally arrived. Yes, we are all definitely done with winter.
I absolutely love it when a craft so simple turns out to be so engaging for my little ones. I find crafts and activities that my kids can do all on their own almost always end up being big hits. And with me too!
Thank you for reading, sweet friend!
