Oh the Apple Theme! No kindergarten, preschool, or homeschool would be complete without a good old Apple theme.
And for good reason. There is so much learning to be had with this one little fruit. So I thought it would be a good idea to compile a whole slue of ideas right here:
Apple themed art, science, literacy, and math activities all in one spot. We will be using loads of these ideas this Fall. Maybe you and your will find some inspiration too?
Paper Plate Apples – Such a sweet and simple craft, and who doesn’t love cute kids’ hand prints?
Apple Print Math – Why not use apples and art to explore math concepts? Here are three of our favorite apple math games.
Printable Apple Numbers from Fun-A-Day – Print out these apple numbers to use with a variety of early math and fine motor skills.
Felt Apple Pie Making Kit from Still Playing School – Using this kit, kids can pretend to make their very own apple pies over and over (and over!) again.
Paint Swatch Pointillism Apple from LalyMom – Kids love using a hole punch, and this craft gives them many opportunities! Children explore the color variations within an apple’s skin.
Pine Cone Apples from Fireflies and Mud Pies – What a beautiful, and easy, combination of art and nature. I can see these pine cone apples decorating the table or the fireplace.
Yarn Apple Craft from Hands On As We Grow – The kids will need just a few materials, and a little bit of patience, to put this yarn craft together.
Exploring the Inside of an Apple Craft from I Heart Crafty Things – Talk with the children about the parts of the apple as they’re creating this tissue paper craft. This would be great to do after cutting into a real apple and exploring its pieces.
Simple Apple Sensory Bin from Fantastic Fun and Learning – This sensory bin invitation uses just two materials, but can provide a lot of hands-on playful learning.
Clothespin Felt Apple Trees from Glued to My Crafts – The little apple trees are meant to stand up, and I can see them being a great fall addition to block or train play.
Cardboard Apple Trees from Housing a Forest – Create beautifully textured apple tree art using pieces of cardboard. They look amazing framed and up on the wall.
Making Apple Patterns from Teach Preschool – Use real apples to explore patterns, and then record those different patterns.
Button Worm Apples from Stir the Wonder – Make an apple-themed twist on the traditional button snake. Children thread a “worm” through felt apples, counting along the way.
Building with Apples from Fun at Home with Kids – Turn an apple snack into an engineering project with the kids! Let them build to their hearts’ content, and then nibble away once they’re done.
Spicy Apple Play Dough from Fun-A-Day – I bet this play dough smells amazing! Kids can make their own apple “recipes” with it and just have fun creating with it.
Apple Science Experiment from Pre-K Pages – Children experiment to see how different liquids affect apples. Can they determine which liquids keep apples from browning?
Apple Suncatchers from Fireflies and Mud Pies – Kids can create colorful apple suncatchers using just a few supplies. These are sure to brighten up the windows of the house.
Stuffed Paper Apples from Buggy and Buddy – Painting and early sewing skills all in one fun package.
Ten Little Apples Song from Not Just Cute – Incorporate this apple chant into your apple theme. It’s easy, catchy, and helps kids with oral language skills.
Falling Apples Math from Fantastic Fun and Learning – Grab some colorful pompoms and explore gravity and math with the kids. A super simple game that delves into addition and subtraction.
This apple themed post has me ready for some apple crisp. Or apple pie! Goodness, apples really can do it all.
I hope you are having a fabulous week. I have a busy one myself, but will be back Friday with an exciting announcement! Thank you so much for reading friends.
