Frozen Yogurt Melts Recipe

May 27, 2016 by Sarah 24 Comments

The most delicious, AND healthy, summer treat we make – Frozen Yogurt Melts. This post was from last summer, but I had to share it again. You MUST make these with your little ones! Here is the original post:

We are enjoying the warm weather that has finally come our way.  Enjoying it both by playing outside, and by eating all the yummy cold treats that come with the season: ice cream, popsicles, freezies, all the good stuff.  But, on my quest to keep my family healthy and eating as naturally as possible, we decided to experiment with some healthier frozen treats.  This frozen yogurt melts recipe is SO YUMMY.  By far the yummiest thing that has come out of our freezer all season.

Delicious and healthy frozen snacks for kids for summer!

**Update: We also made these this winter – freezing them outside in the snow … even more fun!  You can read about our snow-frozen yogurt melts here**

Madeline loves to stick a popsicle stick into a yogurt container and put it in the freezer.  The boys like this too – but it is very (excessively) messy.  We are talking bath-tub required messy.  Though a healthier alternate to freezies … which led me to believe there had to be a better way.  And there is!  Here is our Frozen Yogurt Melts Recipe!

To make these so-yummy-you-won’t-believe-it-or-even-crave-ice-cream treats, simply:

Cut berries up tiny, we used strawberries and blueberries.

how we learn to cook

Pop them in a bowl and add in yogurt.

Stir and spoon onto a lightly buttered cookie sheet. (edit: you could use parchment paper if you prefer)

Pop in the freezer for a few hours, and there you have it!

Truthfully the first few batches we ate straight up off the cookie sheet.  But they are also yummy in a bowl with a spoon – a much less messy alternative to the big yogurt on a stick concoction that floats its way around our house (until Mama kicks it outside).

These bites are so creamy and with just the right amount of sweet.  A lovely snack for a summers afternoon – or morning – or evening…

Truthful Edit: You will still crave ice cream.  But these are really good.

Please consider liking us on Facebook so we can share more yummy kid-friendly recipes and activities with you and your little ones!  Thank you!

I agree. These are yummy! We use parchment paper which eliminates the need for butter. Definitely a super summer treat.

Hi Mary! The ratio really doesn’t matter at all, it is sort of personal taste. The fruit just needs to be coated in the yogurt. We tend to make ours mostly yogurt, with a sprinkling of fruit. But friends of ours used this idea and made yogurt covered frozen fruit, which was also amazingly yummy!

Hi Crystal! We have made these with regular, Greek, and homemade yogurt (though that is misleading, neighbour-made yogurt really, I’m not yet that ambitious!) Each way has been delicious. I personally love the Greek yogurt, as it is so creamy and ice cream like. You really can’t go wrong. Hope you enjoy!

why not just use parchment paper instead of butter? Then you won’t be adding unnecessary calories.

You can also blend the fruit in the yogurt first if you want a truly melt in your mouth treat.
