In the last couple of weeks, I’ve shared a behind-the-scenes look at the Grades 1-3 Math Curriculum and the Grades 4-6 Math Curriculum. Today, I’m so excited to continue on with a Math Curriculum Review for Grades 7 and 8!
As you probably already know, I’m a huge believer in keeping learning simple, meaningful, and manageable. Around here, we always focus on quality over quantity. I want learning to feel engaging and achievable—not overwhelming for children or exhausting for parents.
That’s exactly the approach I took when creating the How Wee Learn Grades 7 and 8 Math Curriculum. I focused on core math skills that meet or exceed US and Canadian standards, cut out the busywork, and organized everything into a simple one-page-a-day format. It’s easy to follow and easy to stick with.
But don’t let the simplicity fool you!
This curriculum covers an incredible range of important math concepts, including number sense, algebra, data management, spatial sense, probability, financial literacy, coding, and more. Everything is laid out step by step, helping students build confidence as they learn.
So, let’s take a closer look inside the How Wee Learn Grades 7 and 8 Math Curriculum!

Grade 7 and 8 Math Curriculum
As children move into Grade 7 and 8, math concepts naturally become more advanced. But that doesn’t mean learning needs to become overwhelming!
The How Wee Learn Grades 7 and 8 Math Curriculum continues to follow a cyclical approach, helping students build confidence through consistent review and meaningful practice.
Instead of introducing a concept once and moving on, important skills are revisited throughout the program using cumulative review, word problems, and real-world applications. This ongoing reinforcement helps students develop a deep understanding of the material while keeping previously learned concepts fresh.
Your child’s coursebook follows the same simple one-page-a-day format that families love. There’s no complicated prep work—just open and go. Each lesson is designed to be manageable, effective, and easy to stick with, even during busy seasons of homeschool life.
Across Grades 7 and 8, students explore the five strands of math:
- Number Sense
- Algebra
- Data
- Spatial Sense
- Financial Literacy
Students also build important problem-solving and critical-thinking skills through coding activities, equations, geometry, probability, and real-life financial literacy concepts.
Weekly Rhythm of the How Wee Learn Curriculum
So, how does all of this fit into just one page a day? Let’s take a closer look at the weekly rhythm of the How Wee Learn Grades 7-8 Math Curriculum:
Day One & Two: Introduce a New Concept
The week begins with a brand-new math concept. The new concept is explored over two days through clear instruction and guided practice.
Day Three: Practice with Word Problems
Mid-week lessons focus on applying concepts through word problems and real-world situations. This helps students strengthen critical-thinking skills while seeing how math connects to everyday life.
Day Four: Cumulative Review with Word Problems
Students revisit previously learned skills through cumulative review questions and mixed word problems. This cyclical approach keeps important concepts fresh for learning that sticks.
Day Five: Consolidation & Review Questions
At the end of the week, students consolidate their learning through review questions and reflective practice. These lessons encourage students to explain their thinking, deepen their understanding, and strengthen their confidence before moving on to the next concept.
And of course, each grade also includes an answer key and course completion certificate to celebrate your child’s hard work and progress!
