March tends to bring out the wild in us Canadians. We all have a touch of spring fever – we know that warm weather is coming and we are getting just a little antsy will the snow still being expected.
I had known for quite some time that March makes me a bit antsy. March is for messy art, zany projects, and good old fashioned dance parties. I have lately noticed this March -induced zany in my fellow Mama friends as well.
For this reason, I was so eager to see what Michelle and Heather had planned in Ben’s preschool classroom for March. I can only imagine that in a classroom with 16 three and four year olds the March zany will be in full effect.
And goodness they did not disappoint! So many fabulous and crazy activities for these little ones to let all of that March antsy-ness out.

The first thing that caught my eye was this AMAZING full body painting wall. Paper from floor to (almost) ceiling with step ladders and stools, paints of all colours, paintbrushes and even toothbrushes! If this doesn’t say March, I really don’t know what does.
My Ben was thrilled to get this art wall started! And within a single morning it looked amazing:
The next thing that caught my eye in this beautiful preschool classroom was the playdough table. This month there was brown playdough to look like mud (try my no-cook recipe – you will love it!).
The table was covered with this fabulous forest play mat (check out this one, so many imaginative play possibilities!), small logs, and dinosaurs. Scissors, rollers, and other playdough tools made this space completely incredible.
And if that March zaniness is just getting too strong – it might just be time to dance it out! This music station is such a hit with the kids – and no wonder – guitars, drums, bells, even a finger guitar! If you are looking for simple homemade versions be sure to check out my post and 42 Homemade Musical Instruments.
I spotted these brilliant rhyming bags too. As you may know, rhyming is one of the 7 skills little ones need to understand before they are ready to read and these little rhyming bags are a fabulous way to play with that concept. I cannot seem to find these bags to buy! If you know where, please let us know.
This idea would also work very well in a sensory bin or salt tray.
We love some good old fashioned mirror play. But I had never thought of turning a mirror into a ramp. This takes car play to a whole new level
I also LOVED seeing Wikki Stix at preschool! Goodness how we adore our Wikki Stix. Such a great idea to put letters and shapes in picture frames to let little ones practice shape forming.
And there you have it! Our March preschool tour. I hope you found an idea or two for your little ones.
Like that great big full body art wall.
Do it.
Do it, do it, do it!!! I will too and then we can tell each other about the fun,but also the complete and utter mess. It will be worth it.
I hope you have had a fabulous week friends. One week through March already – we got this.
Be sure to check out what went on in the classroom all year long:
January, February, March, April, May, June, September, October, November, December.
Thank you so much for reading.
